To Change the Font Size
- From the menu bar, select View/Text Size.
- By default, your font is set to Medium. Select the option you want, and the page will automatically reload using the new size.
To Change Your Background and Font Colors
It's easy to customize your background and font colors to suit your own taste. Here's how:
- Before you customize these two elements, you need to set your browser so that it overrides the settings of the Web pages themselves. Select Tools/Internet Options, click the General tab, and click Accessibility.
- In the dialog box that appears, put a check in each of the top three checkboxes: Ignore colors specified on Web pages, Ignore font styles specified on Web pages, and Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages.
Before you customize these two elements, you need to set your browser so that it overrides the settings of the Web pages themselves. Select Tools/Internet Options, click the General tab, and click Accessibility.
In the dialog box that appears, put a check in each of the top three checkboxes: Ignore colors specified on Web pages, Ignore font styles specified on Web pages, and Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages.
Click OK to return to the Internet Options dialog box.
- On the General tab of the Internet Options dialog box, click Colors.
- In the Colors dialog box, deselect the Use Windows Colors check box. The Text and Background options should now be available.
- Click the boxes beside Text and Background, and select the colors you want to use. Keep in mind that selecting the same or similar background and text colors will make it impossible to see the text.
- If you want to change hyperlinks from the default purple (visited) and blue (unvisited), select new colors for those options.
- You can also assign a hover color for hyperlinks to cause them to change colors when you move your mouse over them. Click to place a checkmark in the Use Hover Color box, and then pick the color you want to use.
- Click OK to close the dialog box and apply your changes; then click OK again to close the Internet Options dialog box.
To change the font face
- On the General tab of the Internet Options dialog box, click Fonts.
- In the dialog box that appears, select the font styles you want; then click OK twice to apply the changes.
To restore your defaults
You can restore your default settings at any time by selecting Tools/Internet Options, clicking Accessibility, and removing the checkmarks from the top three check boxes. Then on the General tab of the Internet Options dialog box, click Colors, and check Use Windows Colors.

To Change Your Font Size and Face
- Select Edit/Preferences from the main menu to display the Preferences dialog box.
- Click Fonts in the Appearance category to display the current font information.
- Select the new fonts and/or sizes from the drop-down boxes.
- If you want all Web pages to use your specified fonts, regardless of what fonts were provided with those pages, click Use my default fonts, overriding document-specified fonts. Click OK to apply the new settings and return to the browser window.
Note: You can change just your font size with one click by selecting View/Increase Font or View/Decrease Font.
To Change Your Font and Background Colors
You can select your own color schemes for links, followed links, text, and background:
- Select Edit/Preferences from the main menu to display the Preferences dialog box.
- Click Colors in the Appearance category on the left to display the color information.
- Choose the colors you want to use. If you want your color choices to always override the colors that are specified with a Web site, check the Always use my colors, overriding document box. If you want to use your colors only on those Web pages that use defaults, leave that box unchecked.
